The link between mental health and sustainability

6th May 2022

At Rescript, we put the health of the planet at the forefront of our aspirations. Our company was created from our shared vision of a planet that is capable of sustaining flourishing life for the centuries to come.

The United Nations SDGs serve as a useful yardstick to help guide humanity toward a mutually beneficial future. While we know that growth and economic expansion cannot be carried out unchecked, we make it a key point to remain aware of the close connection between the health of the planet and the humans inhabiting it. While mental health is finding increasing relevance as a hot topic, we would like to remind you that everything is connected and that there’s a direct link between the health of the ecosystem and the collective mindset of its inhabitants.

While our key area of focus will remain centred around the creation of revolutionary sustainable stationery products, we also have an interest in ensuring that wellness practices are accessible to everyone, especially at a period where we as a species consume more information than we ever have before. The overload of information can be overwhelming and often detrimental to one’s mental health. To help mitigate the issues caused by typical modern lifestyles, we are working hard on an offering that can help people look after their mental health. Before we can reveal our latest offering, we’d like to acknowledge the importance of mental health and its various aspects. Let’s jump right in.

Mental health has a direct impact on all aspects of your life

Mental health has a direct effect on how we think, feel and act. Being more aware of our mental health helps us make better, more conscious choices in all aspects of our lives. Our mental health also determines how we handle stress, empathize with others and take collective decisions.

Increased mental health awareness makes the world a better place

Higher levels of consciousness and awareness can have an overwhelmingly positive impact on collective decision making. John Lennon may have been ahead of his time when he wrote Imagine in 1971, but the idea still holds good today. Imagine if all the people around the world wanted what’s best for humanity as a whole?

Better mental health has a positive impact on physical wellbeing

Several studies have pointed out a strong connection between mental health and physical wellbeing. It has been well documented that poor mental health is a risk factor in chronic physical conditions while on the flip side, people with serious mental health conditions are at a higher risk of experiencing chronic physical conditions. Maintaining a positive mindset and addressing stressors can help boost one's sense of physical wellbeing.

Building a collective consciousness is key to the future of the planet

Lastly, we believe that the widespread awareness of mental health holds tremendous untapped potential. When leaders of future generations, armed with the knowledge of mental health practices find themselves in positions of power, we are certain that policymaking decisions will take a turn for the better. We’re excited to see emerging leaders exhibiting higher levels of empathy for fellow human beings.
