Turn your resolution into a revolution

30th December 2021

With 2022 just a day away, we recognize that sustainability has been a dominant theme in global conversations throughout 2021. The calls for switching to sustainable practices have grown louder than ever before and we’re glad that more people are recognizing the true cost of capitalism on global ecosystems. We predict that the conversations around sustainability are going to continue as we cross over into 2022, and we also foresee brands from around the world working this talking point into their overall narrative - as being ignorant of sustainability practices is no longer considered cool, in the bigger scheme of being part of a global movement.

And so as we gear up to create our own resolutions and read about those of others - especially about bigger businesses and organisations switching to sustainability, we would like to share our point of view on how adopting four of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals can be made easy by simply choosing sustainable stationery for all your needs, both as an individual and as an organisation.

How using sustainable stationery contributes to 4 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG06 - Clean water & sanitation

At Rescript, our goal is to save 6,00,00,000 liters of water by 2025. We can achieve this by realising a widespread adoption of sustainable stationery as the new standard for businesses, institutions and individuals. When you make the switch to using products that consume less water in their manufacturing processes, you are actively contributing to SDG06.

SDG12 - Responsible consumption and production

Sustainable consumption and production promote resource and energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure and access to green and decent jobs and a better quality of life. It is at the heart of progress towards building a sustainable economy that works for both people and the planet in the long term. Since Rescript products are made from 100% recycled materials through a process that saves water, buying and using them actively contribute to the principles behind SDG12.

SDG13 - Urgent action to combat climate and its impacts

By switching to sustainable stationery, you will be actively lowering your carbon footprint. This is achieved due to the fact that using recycled paper lowers the need for its conventional counterpart, thereby saving the loss of tree cover and freshwater available to the ecosystem. The manufacture of recycled paper also actively prevents paper waste from being dumped into landfills and causing soil pollution.

SDG15 - Life on Land(Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss)

Forests account for 30% of the earth’s surface, providing vital habitats for millions of species across the globe. At present, we are losing arable land at 30-35% of the historical rate. 12 million hectares of usable land is lost each year affecting the lives of communities that depend on land for subsistence. Using recycled paper and sustainable stationery products allows you to make an active contribution to SDG15 as our products are manufactured from 100% recycled materials and contribute to the loss of fewer trees every year.
